Chicago is a leading global gateway for air travel, with O’Hare and Midway International Airports providing service to more than 260 destinations, and welcoming more than 100 million passengers annually. In 2018, O’Hare and Midway combined reached record-high passenger and cargo levels, operated more than one million flights, expanded locations as part of an award-winning concessions program, and added nearly 50 new flights—furthering Chicago’s status as one of the best-connected systems in the world.

With more passengers expected to visit every year, Chicago has big plans in store that will ensure O’Hare and Midway Airports provide the very best in customer service, amenities, and choices for travel. O’Hare 21 is an historic, $8.5 billion plan by the City of Chicago and its airline partners that over the next decade will transform O’Hare International Airport with new facilities and modern infrastructure. At Midway, a $400 million modernization program will deliver the first terminal upgrades in nearly 20 years, including a new concessions program, a new security checkpoint with additional lanes, and an expanded terminal parking garage. These upgrades at both airports will improve the passenger experience from curb to gate, helping better connect the world to Chicago and Chicago to the world.
